mmmmmmmmmmm

One of the things I had quite a bit of in the freezer that I've been having to use up is various loaves of bread I bought as day-old / going past date mark downs. (It's a great cheap way to have stale bread for breadcrumbs to use in (vegetarian un-)stuffing and the like.)
So today there is bread pudding baking in the oven. I had a loaf of challah, I had some uht longlife eggnog drink from Jamaica*. I had eggs, I had vanilla, I had cinnamon and nutmeg. We had some sultanas left behind by a former flatmate.

I've just got it out and mmmm does it look and smell lovely... I wonder how soon I can eat it witrhout burning my mouth in the process? ;-)

ETA: It is in fact very nice :-) somehow I think this may put paid to any ideas I might have had about today being a low calorie day however ;-) (Ah well, yesterday was a lo-cal day and so was Saturday, and Friday wasn't that bad on the calorie count either. So today can be one of those 'make sure my metabolism does not re-set to starvation mode' days ;-) )

*(I have discovered over the last few years that a number of things I as a USAian crave but the Brits don't seem to eat the Jamaican immigrants do eat, and they are fond enough of some of these things that certain grocery stores stock varieties imported from Jamaica. The eggnog isn't fab fresh eggnog, but it's drinkable and scratches an itch. There's buttermilk pancake mix in my cupboard imported from Jamaica as well. :-) One of the more amusing things to me is that the branding on these things tends to look like it's US branding from the 60's or 70's )
